APRIL JAZZ CLUB: Case Kämäräinen Feat. Severi Pyysalo September 29th, 2023
Interaction, catchy melodies and free improvisation.
Case Kämäräinen performs music from his album Mystique From The North, released last fall. Drummer Tomi Kämäräinen’s compositions rely on intuition. The style and rhythmic body of almost every song originated from the drum “grooves”. In the composition, Kämäräinen used a British vibraphone from the 60s, the sound of which he is in love with. The compositions have been inspired by free improvisations played on the vibraphone, which he modified to suit his rhythmic ideas. The band members’ strong base of free improvisation once again led Kämäräinen to compose songs where everyone has room to realize their own vision as a player.
The drummer-composer Tomi Kämäräinen, who leads the band, will be accompanied by pianist Tuomo Uusitalo and Polish saxophonist Marek Konarski. Special guests, vibraphonist Severi Pyysalo and bassist Juuso Rinta, will play on the co-production tour of the Finnish Jazz Federation, as part of which the band will also arrive in Espoo.
”Thoughtful processing of sound blanks, strong mutual communication and the courage to focus on what is essential make the listener surrender to the music”
